Over 1.6 Tonnes Of Fake Viagra Impounded

31 August 2007 (Friday)

A major drugs bust has occurred in the UAE City of Dubai where a huge consignment of fake Viagra has been seized by the customs authorities. In all around 1,600kg of fake and illegal Viagra pills were picked up in the Dubai International Airport. The announcement came from the Minister of Health Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qutami following a meeting with health authorities in the country.

Ukmedix News comes across many stories of fake Viagra being smuggled into various countries around the world and it appears that Dubai is a port of choice for Viagra smugglers. The way it works is that countries like India and China where most of the world’s fake Viagra is produced do not try to import their fake medications directly into Europe and America but tried to pass the drugs through friendly and more respectable ports so that the customs authorities in the west will not be so suspicious.

A large percentage of all fake erectile dysfunction drugs are thought to pass through Dubai on their way to more lucrative markets. This particular consignment that was picked up in Dubai had originated from India and was located in an area called Dubai Cargo Village. The health authorities in Dubai stated that they would be destroying this huge consignment of fake Viagra tablets and warned that they were stepping up their vigilance in the customs area.

From our research at Ukmedix News we know that the vast majority of fake Viagra erectile dysfunction pills are substandard and can even be dangerous. We have even come across fake Viagra tablets that are made of blue coloured cement or other dud compounds. Even when the manufacturers of these fake medications actually add the active compound of Viagra namely sildenafil into the tablets they very often get the wrong amount in each pill which can be extremely dangerous for health.
