Pharmacist Guilty Of Stealing Viagra
Viagra the erectile dysfunction drug is hardly ever out of the news and it has changed many peoples' lives and made old men feel young again. However it always causes controversy and in the latest incident to be reported a pharmacist has been struck of the register for stealing Viagra and then trying to make it look like it was a professional colleague who was the culprit.
When the police arrived at the pharmacy they not only realised that there were missing Viagra pills but the fridge was being used storing food as well, which is clearly against regulations for the storage of prescription drugs.
The demand for Viagra is huge but many people are embarassed to go and get a prescription from their doctor and so they resort to either buying illegal and counterfeit versions of the drug on the black market or like in this case they buy the real version but only when it has been stolen. This is dangerous in itself as it is important to get a check up before using Viagra as it can be very harmful to people with blood pressure problems or those using nitrates for heart conditions.
In this case it was noted that around 100 of the erectile dysfunnction tablets were mislaid and in desperation the pharmacist blamed comeone he worked with and said he was selling them at a local venue.
The case came before the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and they decided that the colleague was not the man who stole the pills and they ruled that the pharmacist himself was the the thief and had shown to be guilty of serious professional misconduct.
In the ruling the Chairman of the RPS said that the regulations regarding drug storage and supply had been broken on more than one occasion and that he had even tried to blame someone else for the situation.
The pharmacist admitted his guilt with regard to the supply of Viagra without a prescription but denied misconduct.
