Viagra April Fool's Tricks Thousands

02 April 2007 (Monday)

So did you fall for the latest Viagra April Fool’s joke that was published in the UK Independent Newspaper yesterday?  It appears that thousands of people all over the country did and there must be quite a few red faces now. The story claimed that an accidental discovery in Berkshire by an allotment-holder meant that it was possible to buy a plant that is grown in garden centres all over the UK which would have the same medical affects as the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.  The report even claimed that this new natural Viagra had been tested by experts who had confirmed its potent effects.

The Independent Newspaper said that a winter flowering heather had been examined by botanists from the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and that a huge demand had been registered all over the United Kingdom for this new incredible discovery. The report went on to say that plant growers all over the UK were not able to meet the huge demand from men from all over the place and that the gossip about this plant was spreading like wildfire. One chain of garden centers said that they were being besieged by men all over the weekend for this plant and that there had even been reports of men fighting over the last few remaining plants.

They credited the discovery to a man of 55 years old who was just growing the heather in order to make a herbal drink and that after he had tried the winter-flowering heather he had been unable to walk properly due to a sudden boost of libido and erectile function. The article sounded extremely credible as the reporter talked about different forms of the heather and used complicated scientific names for the plant. A woman was also interviewed who claimed that her husband had suddenly been taking a big interest in gardening and had been pestering her for sex all the time.
