Viagra Could Work On The Brain
For those of you who know how Viagra actually works and the chemical reactions involved you will be aware that nitric oxide is an essential chemical that is part of the erection process and that without plentiful supplies of it a man will not be able to have good erectile function. According to an article in the Neuroscience Journal the same nitric oxide that the Viagra drug acts on is also responsible for helping the brain wake up and start to function in the morning so that it can begin to process sensory data and facts.
This does not mean that they are advising people to take Viagra to improve their brain power as the Viagra drug is only responsible for producing the all important nitric oxide in the penile arteries and not in the brain. However the research is important because the results may be used one day to help people who have cognitive problems, schizophrenia or attention deficit disorder.
Viagra was originally tested for use on patients with angina and ended up as an erectile dysfunction remedy. It has subsequently been researched for people who have pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and is still being researched for other heart conditions and disorders and it looks like the sidenafil citrate in Viagra could possibly in years to come have some sort of function for the brain.
Viagra has made hundreds of millions of dollars for its manufacturers Pfizer far more than it expected to make and possible in the future the earning power of Viagra could be increased if more research is done on the cognitive effects of nitric oxide and the brain.
