Viagra For A Horse

23 March 2006 (Thursday)

The world famous impotency drug Viagra made by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals was the subject of a strange court case in Germany recently. The plaintiff a horse breeder, claimed that he had bought a stallion and unbeknown to him, was suffering from erectile dysfunction and was unable to therefore breed for him.

The horse breeder said that he had not been told that the horse was impotent and having cost over four thousand Euros he wanted to put the stallion to work. In his evidence to the court he stated the fact that the stallion was in possession of only one testicle.

The court however was told that when the horse was given Viagra, which is licensed for use for human male erectile dysfunction, the horse was able to perform and did so perfectly on a number of occassions.

The verdict of the judge was that the horse breeder had no redress against the seller and the case was thrown out. It is tempting to think what the verdict would have been before the widespread use of Viagra as well as other licenced erectile dysfunction medicines.

Viagra has been a global phenomenon with billions of pounds spent on the drug. Viagra is a word that is understood almost everywhere in the world now and is even used a figure of speech to describe giving a boost to something.

It has revolutionised the sex lives of millions of people and possibly one German horse.
