Viagra In Vietnam

25 May 2006 (Thursday)

The world famous erectile dysfunction drug Viagra has finally received the approval from the health authorities in the country of Vietnam. Viagra is the most popular erectile dysfunction drug worldwide and has helped millions of men with impotence and a weak sex drive. Viagra contains a compound called sildenafil citrate that required licencing in nearly all countries worldwide. Viagra was given approval for sale in the U.S. almost a decade ago but some countries have numerous bureaucratic hurdles to overcome before the drug can be sold.

In countries where Viagra has not been licenced black markets in fake Viagra immediately start up. This trade as well as being illegal is also dangerous as often the fake pills are made in dirty unhygenic factories and the correct amounts of the active compound sildenafil citrate is either not present or is present in the wrong dose.

Vietnam has a big black market in fake Viagra and the legalisation of the real Viagra medication may help to kill it and bring those people suffering from erectile dysfunction out from the street and into legal hospitals and health centres. Many generic forms of Viagra have been sold in Vietnam and have been prescribed by doctors over the last few years. Enforcement of copyright in Vietnam and other Asian countries is very difficult and Pfizer has had many difficulties in this area.

It is reckoned that about 5% of all men in Vietnam suffer from impotence and that the market in the country of 40 million men could be very lucrative provided that the real Viagra is not priced too high and out of the financial reach of the average Vietnamese man.
