Viva Viagra Offends Presley Family

Remember when we wrote about the new “Viva Viagra” advertisement for the erectile dysfunction medications Viagra? Well it appears that some individuals are not happy at all about this new way of promoting the world’s number one best selling impotence drug. The family of Elvis Presley namely his daughter Lisa Marie and his widow Priscilla say that they are very upset by the way that his famous song has been used to promote erectile dysfunction medication and said that they found the advertisement “revolting”.

Unfortunately for the Presley family they are unable to do anything about the advertisement as they do not own the legal rights to the Viva Las Vegas song. The rights to the song belong to the estate of Mr Doc Pomus and Mr Mort Shuman who originally wrote the song for Elvis. The Presley family say that they have been inundated with emails from loyal fans of Elvis who think that they must have given permission for the advertisement and they are keen for it to be made known that they had nothing to do with it.

The family of Elvis Presley say that it is particularly upsetting as they are commemorating the 30th anniversary of the demise of the legendary singer. The owners of the erectile dysfunction medication Pfizer have invested 30 million pounds in the Viva Viagra television campaign and are unlikely to pull the advert. On the whole the advertisement has been well received by the public and is likely to carry on being aired for now.

While at Ukmedix News while we sympathise with the Presley family they really do not have much to worry about when compared to what happened to the family of the legendary country singer Johnny Cash who were forced to hear his famous song Ring of Fire being used to advertise a medication for hemorrhoids!
